Dear Sir,
As a rate payer and resident of Scarborough I am most concerned about the work being done on the R66 between Kommetjie and Misty Cliffs. During working hours there is a stop/go system in operation but, after hours and during week-ends, we are left with a road that has been chopped up so that only half of the road is usable. There is sea on the one side and mountain on the other. There are also no street lights. This is a road travelled by 1000's of tourists, in busses, on their way to Cape Point ( 1.5 million visitors a year is the statistic)
Having been involved in a serious accident on the same road before construction even commenced, I am concerned that the situation is now so dangerous that an inspector must be sent out and some action taken to enforce tighter safty precautions.
While such an inspector is out on site he should also apprase the quality of the work being done which is truely shocking.
I should be most pleased to have any reaction you care to give to this letter.
Yours faithfully
D.D.Peters(Mrs)
